Seventeen magazine has done it again with this latest video on how to make your own doily lantern. This DIY project is shown in a simple and easy-to-follow way by the host of “Nailed It,” Sarah, and the supplies needed are not only inexpensive, but easy to work with too. This project is especially great for teen girls who want to put their own personal touches on their rooms, but it works great for adults who’d like to take advantage of this too. It’s even a great project for moms and daughters to do together, or a great project for sleepovers when your teens need something to do.
All it takes to make your own doily lantern is a few doilies, some white Elmer’s glue, a little flour, some petroleum jelly, a couple tablespoons of water and a latex balloon. Of course, you’ll need a light kit to complete the project, and a few extra supplies like a pair of scissors and a paint brush for the glue, but the lantern itself has very few requirements.
Keep in mind, though, that although this project is completed using regular ivory colored doilies, you don’t have to. If you really want to get creative, you can dye them whatever color you like first – colors like black, pink, or even a multi-colored version. The only thing holding you back is your imagination.
