Health Issues Camouflaged Young Woman’s Pregnancy

Unraveling mysteries of women who have no idea they are pregnant until the baby makes an appearance is the topic of a hit show “I Didn’t Know I was Pregnant.”
Episode 202 of this gripping medical drama features Ashley, a young woman born with a congenital heart defect. She suffered from blood clots, and was prescribed and took birth control pills, as it was deemed risky for her to have a baby.

The petite, slim 22 year old, along with her family, friends, and fiancé, didn’t think it was unusual when she gained a mere ten pounds, as she still wore a bikini and had no morning sickness.
Light blood spotting during pregnancy is not an unusual occurrence; however, Ashley figured that was just another one of her light, infrequent menstrual periods. She did have a craving for pickles, but she did not assign that to anything other than just loving the snack.

One night Ashley awoke with abdominal pain, and thinking it just another clot, thought she was okay to driver herself to the hospital to get it checked out.

Her fiancé, (now husband) Dustin, went back to sleep, not knowing that Ashley had fainted before she got to the car. A neighbor took Ashley in, called paramedics, and by then Ashley’s water had broken and the baby’ s head was crowning.

Due to the expertise of the emergency medical team, and the neonatal care the baby received at the hospital, the 10 week preemie survived and went home five weeks later, when the baby’s weight went from a mere three pounds to a thriving six pounds.
