A Birmingham woman was walking to her car by herself one day when a man approached, pulled out a gun – and demanded money from her. When she told the assailant she didn’t have any, he forced the woman into her vehicle and drove off into the night.
Eventually, the man pulled over, shoved the woman into the trunk of her own car, snatched her ATM card and hit up several ATM machines to access her funds. But the woman wasn’t about to go down without a fight. When the man stopped at a gas station in Marathon, she pulled on the safety latch inside the trunk and jumped out of the car as the man was pulling out of the parking lot. She landed on her hands, rolled onto her back and painfully bounced off the concrete. Then she sprinted into the gas station, running for her life.
