Paddy Ackerman lives in Palm Harbor, Florida. Her daughter had left her beloved Golden Retriever dog in her possession, and it was her duty to take care of the dog at all costs. Fortunately, when a catastrophic situation arose, Ackermann knew exactly how to react under pressure. It was a beautiful Tuesday morning when the dog, named Ossie, and Ackerman went out for a brisk walk.
As Osi urinated, something nearby made noise in the water. Out of nowhere and without warning, a crocodile measuring up to nearly 8 feet long rushed out of the water to attack Osei. He immediately started screaming in pain, Ackermann didn’t know what to do but his quick thinking ended up saving the dog’s life.
Quick to respond, Ackermann slipped before catching the dog. He tried to free the dog from the grip of the crocodile, but after a few moments he realized that it wouldn’t work. Then he took bolder action by starting to kick the crocodile in the nose, trying to get him to free the dog from his grasp. Fortunately, the crocodile responded, opened its mouth and retreated towards the water.
Ackermann saved the day, and Osei would be fine other than a slight soreness. But people can’t help but wonder what would have happened if the same situation had happened to a smaller dog. Everyone involved thank heaven that Aussie is safe and out of harm’s way. The alligator was later removed from the area, but Ackermann still wants others to pay attention to their surroundings when exploring the outdoors with their pets.
