Bella, a great Belgian shepherd, was found and rescued from the waters of the River Trent in Nottingham, England after someone tied her to a large boulder and threw her away.
Spotted by a Good Samaritan who saw her struggling to stay afloat, she immediately called Nottingham Police.
The dog was taken to a local vet where he could be treated and allowed to recover. She will soon start foster care and then be put up for adoption when she is ready.

An investigation has been opened, and police are working with the RSPCA to investigate the microchip to see if its owner has changed since the card was returned in 2010. Suspected cruelty to animals has been arrested, but they’re still gathering. More information.
“It was such a bad and unpleasant thing to do with this poor dog, and we are trying to figure out who is responsible,” said BC Adam Pace of Nottinghamshire Police. “We are fortunate that a nice member of the audience found and saved her.”
