Sarah spends almost every waking second caring for others – and her natural mothering instinct is the reason a judge recently handed Sarah custody of her granddaughter, Isabella. Living with Sarah was clearly the right choice for the little girl, but it left Sarah struggling to prepare her house as well as gather clothes, food and supplies.
Unfortunately, this unexpected judgment forced Sarah to do the unthinkable to save a newborn granddaughter …
Sarah works as a nurse at the Henrico Doctor Hospital in Richmond and she and her colleagues are very close. They face horrific injuries, difficult patients, stubborn doctors, and a schedule no one should be working on (while maintaining their sanity).
So when one of her coworkers, a woman named Pam Medina, came across Sarah digging in the hospital’s children’s donation box, she immediately walked in and asked what the problem was. Why was Sarah rummaging through second-hand clothes, let alone baby stuff?
That’s when Sarah opened up about her custody and how much she needed to buy to give Isabella the best possible life. She had no idea that trusting Pam would set a course of action that would change their lives forever.
After Pam got home from work that day, she ran over to the computer and messaged several groups of moms online. Pam went behind Sarah’s back in the best way to make sure she had the supplies she so badly needed.
At first Pam thought her plea wouldn’t be answered – but then the messages started pouring in! Women across the state were willing to donate clothing, toys, safety equipment, furniture, food, automotive equipment, and more. Pam spent the next few days (and nights) traveling hundreds of miles to collect Isabella’s things, but it was worth it.
