When Hurricane Harvey hit the region, the battle for life began well for Abilene. The water rose quickly and flooded the larger area, and Abilene was determined to save her dogs.
I took them one by one to the balcony of a neighboring house to save them from the rising waters.
The couple living at the home soon discovered the puppies with their mother. They acted quickly and took the animals to an animal shelter. They gave them a roof over their heads and fed and cared for them.
