Smartphones have changed the world. Older adults remember a time when communication with others was limited and expensive. Today, a text message can send information to someone anywhere in the world in an instant.
Although they are the wonders of technology, sometimes texting is nothing more than a person’s rudeness. Table texting, for example, isn’t the best behaviour. The creation of a recent video shows rudeness in a different light. Humor is used to deliver a message.
The father and his sons put up with dinnertime text messages for a long time. In the end, my dad got tired of the behavior and took action.
He found an old typewriter and brought it to the table. Dad knocked on those pesky old keys and completely disrupted his kids’ dinner and texting session. The forgetful teens did not see irony here. Someone asked his father what he was doing, and the father scolded him for “passing the salt.”
Whether the teens learned their lesson remains somewhat of a mystery. But the humorous nature of the video can do more for parents who want to instill advice in their little ones. Teens generally don’t like lectures. A funny video may get better results and less texting.
