The film is directed by Pablo Larren, 44. The Chilean director also directed the 2016 biopic Jackie, about Jackie Kennedy’s life at the time of her husband John F. Kennedy’s assassination in the 1960s. Spencer had a weekend in the early 90s when Diana decided her marriage to Prince Charles wasn’t working. This should make for compelling viewing!
Kristen Stewart was born on April 9, 1990 in Los Angeles, California. She won a BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2010 and a César for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Clouds of Sils Maria. Playing Diana is going to be the next big challenge you’ve been looking forward to.
Speaking of preparing for the role, Stewart takes it very seriously and researches and works with a dialect coach. She told InStyle:
“I don’t just want to play Diana, I want to know her implicitly. I haven’t been excited to play a part, by the way, in a long time…” I continued, “The accent is scary because “finish all the material before you actually go make the movie”.
Stewart described the story of the late princess as “one of the saddest stories that ever existed”. Director Larren also spoke to Deadline about the film’s angle, as the story is unconventional:
“We all grew up, at least in my generation, reading and understanding what a fairy tale is. Usually a prince comes and finds a princess, invites her to be his wife, and eventually becomes a queen. It’s the fairy tale When someone decides not to be the queen and says, I’d rather go And be myself, that’s a big decision, a fairy tale upside down… that’s the heart of the film.”
Larraine says Stewart is the perfect actress for the role because of her mix of mystery and fragility. According to The Guardian, he revealed:
“The way she reacts to the script and how she handles the character, it’s so beautiful to see her. I think she would do something amazing and intriguing at the same time. It’s that strength of the nature.”
We all love a biopic, and when you add the Royal Family to the mix, it only adds to the excitement – we can’t wait to see how this film pans out!
