Maren, 36, was filmed two weeks ago when nearly 20 people, including TV presenters, an MP and a famous and influential fashion designer, attended the event which was said to have taken place in two apartments and took place in two bars.
In the clips, strangers at the party were heard talking about “flour”. Generic term used to refer to cocaine in Finland.
Marin argued that the clips are “private videos” and “not intended for public viewing”, but insisted she did nothing illegal at the event and said she didn’t. had “nothing to hide or hide”.
“I didn’t do drugs, I didn’t use anything but alcohol,” she said the day after the leak.
When asked if there should be a police investigation into the incident, she commented: “I still don’t know that anything illegal happened. It wouldn’t be the police. at this moment.”
“I danced and sang and partied – totally legal stuff. I’ve never been in a situation where I saw or knew other people [who use drugs].”
The Prime Minister’s security details were in the area on the day of the party, but Marin said they did not enter the apartments themselves.
When she moved to the pub, she said, “Even there I sang, danced, hugged my friends and drank alcohol.”
Marin said she would “remain friendly [with her friends]” despite the leak and denied seeing anyone else at the party using illegal substances.
Karolina Tommenen, a radio host who was at the party with Marin, also denied claims that anyone had taken drugs and said there was nothing ‘weird’ about a ‘good band’ adults having fun.
Marin is now facing calls for a voluntary drug test, with Center Party MP Mikko Karna saying “half of Finland” suspects the prime minister of drug use after viewing the videos.
However, Marin noted that she had a separate family and work life with “free time spent with her friends”, like “a lot of people” her age.
“I will be exactly the same person I have been until now and I hope that I will be accepted,” she added.
The Prime Minister has been in power since December 2019 and continues to be supported by her social democratic party.
