Navy veteran Lisa Bennett recently got her age surprise from the Fox 5 Surprise Squad in Las Vegas. The group was so moved by Lisa’s story that they knew they had to help her.
Lisa recently moved her three nieces and nephews with her two daughters from Arizona to Las Vegas, to give them a better life. This veteran mother stepped up and won legal guardianship of her nieces and nephews after learning they were homeless.
She knew living in motels wasn’t safe for kids, so she took matters into her own hands. The Department of Veterans Affairs was able to provide shelter for this Navy veteran and his family. But the only problem was that the shelter was not furnished.
Each of the children slept on their bedroom floor, using only blankets for warmth. The Surprise team came up with the idea of furnishing the whole house for free. Surprise began to appear on Lisa’s doorstep.
Lisa wasn’t home, but her daughter and her parents were! The group let Lisa’s loved ones in for a surprise and were overwhelmed with excitement. The group gave the family $1,000 to go shopping while the group worked to furnish the whole house.
After the house is finished and the family is done with their shopping spree, they bring in Lisa to experience the surprise. Lisa was completely silent as she walked through the front door. She couldn’t believe her eyes.
Her living room now has lots of furniture, and there are finally dining chairs in the kitchen. All bedrooms now also have beautifully made beds. Lisa and her family were so grateful for this well-deserved, life-changing gift! Kudos to Fox 5 Surprise Squad!
