It’s a love story that’s sure to touch the hearts of anyone who hears it. An elderly couple who had been married since 1940 died peacefully a day apart.

After living together, Alexandaer and Jeanette Toczko said goodbye to each other and their families on their 75th wedding anniversary. According to their children, they fell in love when they were eight years old and never separated.

“Their hearts have been beating for the longest I can remember. He died in his arms, and that’s exactly what he wanted,” said their daughter, Amy Tuczko Cushman.

She hugged him and said, ‘Look, this is what you want. You died in my arms and I love you. I love you, wait for me, I’ll be here soon. Within 24 hours, their mother passed away quietly.

The hospice carer brought another bed into their home so the couple could be next to each other and hold each other for their final moments together.
